Just for Members!
Summer rallies, camps, and ratings are just around the corner!
Everyone is getting excited about this summer- we're going to be a busy club! Those of you who are seasoned veterans will know what to pack for these summer events, but with tons of now PCer's this year, we've all got to help make sure that everyone is ready for summer. Anytime you go to any horsey event, you'll need a plethora of things, and sometimes, it can get a little overwhelming (especially in PC!), but with all of our members to help, getting ready will be a breeze.
Here are some tips for getting your horse ready for a pony club event:
- Pack a few days ahead of time. The last few days leading up to a rally will be filled with riding, bathing, and checklists. Pack everything you can the weekend before to make sure everything is clean, in good repair, and where it needs to be. You don't want to be packing for your rating the night before you leave and realize you have no clean breeches!
- Use checklists. There are so many things you need to pack, that unless you have it all written down, you're bound to forget something.
- Clean everything! Your pony, your clothes, your tack, your extra tack, your brushes... nothing can go to a pony club event dirty. Make sure to scrub your pony to make him sparkle, clean and oil your tack, and be sure to have appropriate, well-fitting clothing for whatever you're going to do.
- Ask for help! There is so much to be done that it can be hard work doing it on your own! Enlist a friend or parent to help you load the car and trailer. Older members can also be very helpful if you have any questions about what you need to bring, if your tack and pony are clean enough, if your bit is against the rules, or anything of that nature. They've been in the same situation as you are now, and got through their first rally/camp/rating just like you will!
So what exactly do you need to bring?
